Scraping Lasagne Off With

Catering Equipment

Feb 5th, 2010 by PaPa in Down The Garden Path

When I used to work in a hospital kitchen, I learned to use quite a lot of catering equipment. You name it – and I used it; the meat and cheese slicers, the ovens, the squirty thing that cleans plates. In fact, I used that squirty thing that clans plates the most. In fact, if I’m honest, I was rarely not doing the dishes.

chips When I did get to use the various examples of catering equipment, I got to make things like cakes and couscous – and I even got paid by one of the chefs to cook the fried breakfasts. That was quite a lot of fun even though I’m a vegetarian and slicing up the meat wasn’t massively appealing – if I’m honest!

Ultimately though, my time in that hospital kitchen was very rewarding and a lot of fun. I got to meet some great characters whilst there – many of whom I’m still in contact with. They taught me how to cook chips straight from frozen – and not to mention how to scrub lasagne off a tin.
