I was pretty surprise when I checked out one of those ecards websites the other day – the stuff they had on there was pretty good. I was expecting some badly animated greetings – but they actually more like short animated films than what I imagined. I was quite impressed.
Apparently they use a piece of software called Flash, which enables various layers of animation to be created. This is great for creating effects like snow – which featured in quite a few of the Christmas ecards I saw.
Of course, you can’t beat the real thing – postal cards still have a certain magic that cannot be found with ecards; and ‘real’ cards can be used as a kind of decoration too, as they certainly make a room look pretty – and of course they make people look really popular. An inbox full of ecards cannot be shown off – if that’s you’re thing.
I currently have only one real card this year – but of course, I have hundreds of ecards in my email inbox, don’t I?
