Known throughout the world as a leading educational centre, Cambridge is also one of the most beautiful towns in Britain. What surprises many people when they explore the heart of this ancient settlement, is how consistently attractive it is. Every turn you take reveals more old buildings; many of which have seen some the country’s – and the world’s – greatest minds break new ground in everything from Science to the Arts.

The tranquil canals add to the relaxed atmosphere of this great town. When you visit these old streets you’ll no doubt find a great deal to do; top quality restaurants, bars mean that a fun time is to be had for all. Add to this the obligatory wide range of historical attractions, and you’ll soon realise why this is such a popular place to visit.
One of the most popular things to do whilst here is to take a ride on a gondola – a quintessentially English activity, which draws thousands of visitors from around the nation and indeed across the globe.
What crossed my mind when I visited here – how good it must be to study here. I think it would be a lot of fun, to be in this sort of Disneyland of Education, where the country’s greats have studied and lectured. I suppose it might also be a bit claustrophobic for some people though, as it really is completely dedicated to academic learning; until you go out into the newer, surrounding areas of the town, you barely get the impression it is 2009 at all.
