Newquay – Something For All?

Although Newquay has developed a reputation as a party town for younger folk, when you wander round this busy seaside town, you realise that every age group is represented by the holidaymakers that come here. True, more antiquated Newquay visitors tend to stay in their caravans and hotels when the sun goes down, peering from behind their curtains as the streets start filling up with people determined to have a good time/get arrested.

Newquay
The Devon and Cornwall Constabulary certainly have their work cut out from them as they patrol swathes of people celebrating birthdays, forthcoming weddings – or simply the summer. In a town known for night time trouble, it almost seems ‘de rigour’ to have a fight. It appears that if at least some of the flesh on display doesn’t avail itself to Northern monkeys and Essex wideboys, then a fight will certainly constitute a good evening out on the tiles.
Apart from the superb drinking possibilities, Newquay also offers some breathtaking coastal scenery, where dramatic cliff tops stretch both east and west, often towering over pretty sandy coves and beaches. If the town centre provides the hangover, then the surrounding countryside certainly provides the hangover cure.
If you like driving, then there are lots of attractive coastal and countryside roads to explore. In Newquay and indeed in other towns around there are plenty of car hire firms that can provide you with a high quality motor from which you can survey the majestic Cornish seascapes.
And if both walking the cliffs and heavy drinking don’t tickle your fancy, you can always focus your energies on learning to surf – or perhaps just doing a bit of boogie boarding. If you really want to relax you can just build a sandcastle out of the many metric tonnes of sand readily available down by the sea.
Whatever the reason is for going to Newquay, you certainly won’t be bored!
